Hey folks let’s start 2012 with Sir Herman Poole Blount, aka Sun Ra (R.I.P.) .

I came across his music in the late 90′s during a class of contemporary music at University in Bologna and i can say that my approach to the music changed drastically from that moment on.

To better understand what i’m talking about i strongly suggest to watch Space Is the Place, the 82-minute movie released in 1974, directed by John Coney, written by Sun Ra, Joshua Smith and features Sun Ra and his Arkestra. A soundtrack for the film was released on Evidence Records.
